Saturday: En Route  | Depart USA to Casablanca. |
Sunday: Casablanca / Rabat  | Upon arrival at Casablanca, your journey will begin with an orientation tour of this lively city, the city of Bogart and Bergman. Casablanca, a chief port is the financial, commercial and manufacturing center of Morocco and the largest city in Africa. Drive along the wide boulevards and pass the Mosque of Hassan II where you have the option to visit the interior. Depart Casablanca and continue to the Imperial “Garden City” of Rabat. Check-in to your hotel for dinner and overnight. (D) |
Monday: Rabat / Moulay Idriss / Volubilis / Meknes / Fes  | After breakfast, a morning tour in Rabat will include the Kasbah of the Oudayas, the Royal Palace within the walls of the Mechouar, Hassan Tower, and Mohammed V Mausoleum, the city’s invariable symbol magnificently situated on the crest of a hill. We depart to the Imperial city of Mekne, the “Versailles of Morocco, dating back to the 8th Century. We shall see the monumental gates of Bab Mansour before continuing to the Roman ruins of Volubilis. From there we can see the holy city of Moulay Idriss, which holds the tomb of Moulay Idriss, the founder of Islam in Morocco. Continue to Fes for dinner and overnight. (B.D) |
Tuesday: Fes  | After breakfast your driver will take you on a tour of Fes, oldest of the Imperial Cities, founded in 790 A.D. Today, this city is the spiritual, cultural, and educational center of the country and renowned for its traditional crafts. This morning will include the monuments and historical sites such as the Karaouine University and Mosque. At the center of the square stands the Nejjarine fountain, decorated with tiles, and considered to be the finest examples of geometric ornamentation in the city. This afternoon, walk along the winding cobblestone lanes of the ancient souk and to see the ancient Dyers Tannery - the view is memorable. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. (B.D) |
Wednesday: Fes / Midelt / Erfoud  | After breakfast, we begin our long drive to Erfoud. Continue past the former French Foreign Legion outpost of Errachidia, one of the largest oases in Morocco and the starting point for many excursions into the great sand dunes of the Sahara. Although a simple town, Erfoud is the gateway to one of the most beautiful natural sites in the world, the amazing dunes at Erg Chebbi. Dinner and overnight at your hotel. (B.D) |
Thursday: Erfoud / Rissani / Merzouga / Erfoud  | After breakfast, we shall visit Rissani, famous for its pottery, the Ksar Abbar and the interesting fossil quarries.This afternoon return to your hotel, change vehicles to a 4-wheel drive and travel to the spectacular dunes of Erg Chebbi, the dunes of Lawrence of Arabia. Watch the sun set against the pristine desert dunes. Return to your hotel for a late supper. (B.D) |
Friday: Erfoud / Todra Gorges / Ouarzazate  | After breakfast we depart to Erfoud and drive through scenic dense palm groves to the inspiring Todra Gorges. Follow the banks of the river, driving through sheer towering walls of rock and continue along the Route of a Thousand Kasbahs and the Dades River Valley to Ouarzazate, where everything is calm beautiful and fresh - the image of the authentic south of Morocco where time has stood still for centuries. We shall stop to visit the rose village of El Kelaa before arriving in Ouarzazate for dinner and overnight. (B.D) |
Saturday: Ouarzazate  | Breakfast at the hotel and either spend the day at leisure or take the full-day excursion returning to Ouarzazate for dinner and overnight. (B.D) |
Sunday: Ouarzazate / Ait Ben Haddou / Marrakech  | Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your hotel, we shall visit Ouarzazate, the center of Morocco’s film industry. Visit the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and continue via the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass of the Atlas Mountains to exotic city of Marrakech. (B.D) |
Monday: Marrakesh  | After breakfast, a sightseeing tour of this beautiful city includes the 16th century Saadian Tombs, the Museum of Moroccan Arts, the fragrant Menara Gardens, the famous Koutoubia Minaret and the magnificent Bahia Palace. After lunch at the hotel, we continue to Djemaa-el-Fna Square, the heart of Marrakesh. Tonight, dinner and folklore show at “Chez Ali,” serving typical Moroccan cuisine, family style in lavishly decorated tents amidst music, local entertainment and an equestrian show. (B.L.D) |
